| A nerve is made up of several fascicles. Inside each fascicle is a large number of axons. The inside of the fascicle is protected from tbe blood stream by a blood/nerve barrier located in the perineurium. The axons them selves are wrapped inside the lipid laden Schwann cells which act as electrical insulation. The microtubules of the axonskeleton are inside the axon itself. | |||||||||||||||||||
